Jamey Dwyer, MSW, APSW

Counselor

MSW - Master’s of Social Work

Advance Practice Social Worker - WI

Jamey returns to HOPE after completing her advanced clinical internship here, beginning in 2017. She received her Bachelor’s of Science from UW-Wisconsin, Parkside in Psychology with a great emphasis in the Criminal Justice System. She completed her Master of Social Work (MSW) at George Williams College, where she studied heavily the impacts of trauma in working with children. She has experience working as an advocate for victims as well as a crisis counselor for mental health struggles and addictions, providing both group and individual services to children, adolescents, adults and families. Jamey’s background also includes community case management for adults with severe and persistent mental health diagnoses and co-occurring substance use disorders. Jamey takes a person-centered, strengths based, goal oriented approach to develop strong, non-judgemental and caring, working relationships with those she treats. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Sensitive Care, and plans to pursue training in play therapy.

Personally, Jamey enjoys spending time with her family - including her husband and 3 children, as well as caring for her elderly father. She balances herself on a relaxed, rainy day, curled up with a good book, and a bottomless mug of warm coffee.
