Meet the Owner of HOPE

Jamie Wagner

Jamie Wagner has been in the helping profession throughout her career. The journey led Jamie and her late husband Gary to develop a counseling agency to foster hope, positive emotional health, and healthy relationships for the individuals and families served. Jamie strives to provide an atmosphere of warmth and acceptance while also offering therapeutic services that are developmentally appropriate for children and adolescents, family-focused to increase healthier interactions between family members, and individually tailored to meet the unique needs of each person seeking counseling services.

Jamie Wagner is the owner and Program/Clinic Director of HOPE – Child and Family Counseling, Inc. Jamie holds a Masters of Arts Degree in Counseling/Marriage and Family Therapy, her license in Clinical Professional Counseling from Illinois, her license in Professional Counseling from Wisconsin, a Registration in Play Therapy and Supervision through the National Association of Play Therapy, and her endorsement in School Counseling/Type 73 from the state of Illinois.

Ms. Wagner’s professional experiences have included services/employment at various agencies as a Child and Family Counselor. She also has an extensive work history in early education, early intervention, research and assessment, therapeutic interventions, an extensive trauma therapy background, and a lifelong career in program development. Her career history before becoming a psychotherapist included: preschool education, direct services for an elementary education system for children with physical and emotional disabilities, developing and directing an early education center, and as family service coordinator/researcher for the Transition and Head Start National Study. Her involvement with the Transition study included developing, implementing, and evaluating Head Start services in grades K – 3 in Central Wisconsin. Prior to building HOPE, Jamie served as a Mental Health Therapist and Program Director for the counseling program at Easter Seals Children’s Development Center in Rockford, IL. Jamie has been zealous about providing therapeutic services that are developmentally appropriate for all ages.

Jamie also provides clinical supervision to graduate-level interns and post-graduate interns for licensure and registration in play therapy. Jamie lives in Wisconsin and enjoys everything to do with nature, road trips throughout Wisconsin, and spending time with family. After building a career focusing on children and families, Jamie is now experiencing the joys of grandparenting.

Jamie is an artist by nature and will often use her creative side when designing fun play therapy rooms and peaceful environments at HOPE and at her home. She enjoys reading and learning about the latest research in mental health, child and family therapy, trauma therapy, attachment work, nutrition and its effects on mental health, and emotional growth and healing throughout the lifespan.
