Kid’s Activity Calendar: September 8th – 13th

Happy back to school!

I hope you all are having a successful transition back to school and working as a family to adjust to the new “normal!” This week, the activities will be focused on movement and physical exercise to encourage your kids to get plenty of activity during the day! If you are doing virtual school, each activity could be done before and/or after school sessions! Regular exercise and brain breaks are a great way to help your child stay engaged in tasks for longer!

Tuesday September 8th

Complete each exercise 5 times throughout the day!

1- 5 deep breaths

2- 10 seconds trunk twisting side to side (look over shoulder to stretch back muscles!)

3- 5 standing toe touches

4- 15 seconds skipping in place

5- 5 hand squeezes: open up hands (spread fingers) then clench fists and release

Wednesday September 9th

BRAIN BREAK!

Jot down or verbalize things that are quick distractions that can give you a brain break to help refocus on school work! Examples: looking out the window for 10 seconds, standing at desk during lectures, having a stress ball to fidget with at your desk.

Try to come up with at least 3!

Thursday September 10th

Plan you lunch and recess! Use the format below to have your child write down what they want for lunch each day fo school. If your children are participating in virtual learning from home, they should also indicate the activity they would like to complete at recess (examples: 20 minute walk, youtube workout, sports outside (if space available), rest and relaxation techniques).
